The Young & The Restless: Pizza Summit!!

Tuesday, March 22, the Dundee Library's 20s and 30s group will meet for a gloriously indulgent celebration of pizza. We will sample different types of pizza - all of it delicious - from various local pizzerias. Come prepared to sample these succulent slices and share your thoughts on that most wonderful of all foods. Holiday Horror Movie Night : Gremlins

On Tuesday Night at 6:30 PM, we will be showing Joe Dante's classic '80s horror film Gremlins at Dundee Township Public Library.  Whether you are tired of watching classic, violence-free Holiday films (you can only watch It's a Wonderful Life so many times), want to wax nostalgic about Corey Feldman's career, you really love Howie Mandel's voice work, or just think the little gremlins are so cute, you should come and check it out!  There will popcorn, holiday cookies, and a raffle for a gift card. 

The movie is part of a new club we have at the library for 20 and 30 somethings.  Below is the event info:

Young and Restless Event: Trivia Night at Emmett's

Do you think you're smarter than a librarian?  Show up our know-it-all team of librarians this Tuesday night at West Dundee's own Emmett's Tavern. We will be bringing with Pass the Popcorn (movie trivia), Bezzerwizzer (general trivia plus strategy), and some old school Trivial Pursuit.  So trivia whizzes of all varieties can show off their skills.

The Dude Abides at the Library, Tuesday Night (Sept. 14).

On Tuesday night at 6:30 PM, we will be showing the Coen Brothers' cult classic movie, the Big Lebowski, at Dundee Township Public Library.  The Big Lebowski is probably the most popular and accessible Coen Brothers' work to date.  It is a pinball mystery following the incredibly chill Jeff Lebowski aka. the Dude (Jeff Bridges) around LA in the mid-1990s as he investigates the kidnapping of a trophy wife.  One of the reasons I really enjoy this movie is because of the incredible supporting work by John Goodman and Philip Seymour Hoffman.  Goodman, especially, is funny as former Vietnam vet Walter Sobchak, whose quick, violent temper pretty much make him the anti-Dude.  The soundtrack for the movie is also excellent, featuring everyone from the Monks to Kenny Loggins at his most psychedelic. 

The movie showing is also the first meeting of a new group we have started at the library for twenty and thirty-somethings called Young and Restless (aka. YAR).  Check out our shiny, new Facebook page for more events and info on YAR.
